WITNESSING HISTORY – A REFLECTION FROM ONE OF OUR SISTERS:

Living in Rome you have the privilege of everyday walking in the footsteps of the Saints – literally.
Another privilege is being able to witness history unfold before your eyes when a Pope is elected!
Via della Conciliazione was teaming with people and energy from around the world. One really understood the sense of what it means to be the Catholic – the Universal Church – as we prayed the rosary in Latin in preparation for the Mass.
Sitting with the U.S. delegation, only about 50 yards from the main altar, the Holy Father’s homily left me inspired and full of hope.
He spoke of His mission as being twofold – a mission of love and unity. He encouraged the Church to be “a sign of communion and unity.” If this sign could be incarnated – it would be that crowd assembled together in that square, at the foot of the altar, praying for this new Shepherd and his flock.
Long Live Pope Leo XIV!
