Twenty-five years ago, our four foundresses freely placed their entire earthly security on the line to follow the call of the Holy Spirit to start a new foundation – the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist. They believed in God’s faithfulness to draw young women to Himself and to pledge their radical trust in Him through this new community. They only had to trust and be faithful daughters of the Church.
By 2002, our community had grown to over 30 Sisters and was officially recognized as part of the Dominican Order!

In the next five years, God continued to push us forward! From the strong foundation already in place, our very first group of Postulants professed Perpetual Vows, we established our first teaching mission, and we made our debut on the “big screen”.

By our 10 year anniversary, we were more than 55 Sisters strong!

The next five years saw the completion of the third and final phase of our motherhouse in Ann Arbor. Our teaching apostolate grew by four more missions, and even Oprah Winfrey wanted to share our story!

After 15 years we were up to 90 Sisters!

Our first musical CD made it to #1 on Billboard charts! In addition to establishing more U.S. missions, we accepted an invitation to serve in the “eternal city”- Rome. We began publishing catechetical, devotional and discernment books and other resources and launched our Disciples of Christ, Education in Virtue® program, which is now in hundreds of schools and parishes nationwide and beyond.

By our 20th anniversary, we had reached over 130 Sisters and were serving in 10 schools!

To house our growing numbers, we expanded permanently into the Diocese of Austin, Texas with the completion of the first phase of our new large convent – Our Lady of Guadalupe Priory. We also opened a new recording studio to record audio and video content full time. These years have seen tremendous growth in Sisters and missions, as well as the official launch of our Openlight Media platform, with a growing array of digital and print content to share the light of Christ throughout the world.

As of the 25th anniversary of our founding – February 9, 2022 – our numbers reached over 150 Sisters with 19 missions in 11 states and Italy.
