Worthington, OH

Jun 21, 2016

The Dominican Sisters of Mary are celebrating 10 years of being part of St. Michael Parish and School in Worthington, Ohio, in the Diocese of Columbus. Wonderful families in both the parish and school have generously supported the Sisters. Growth in the faith and the practice of the virtues is the focus in the Sisters’ classrooms, as they impart to students the joy of being disciples of Christ.

Four Dominican Sisters of Mary are currently blessed to serve at this mission: Sr. John Paul is principal of St. Michael School, Sr. Maria Kolbe teaches 2nd grade, Sr. Mary Vianney teaches middle school religion and Sr. Teresa Paul is a K-5 religion teacher, especially offering the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd and teaching 5th grade religion. The Sisters join a terrific staff in a shared commitment to academic and moral excellence at St. Michael School.

The Sisters remain grateful for the original invitation of Most Reverend Frederick F. Campbell to come to the Diocese of Columbus and for the support of their pastor, Fr. Anthony Dinovo.

They especially appreciate the gift of contributing to the Church’s mission of Catholic education under the leadership of Bishop Robert J. Brennan. The current diocesan initiative, Real Presence Real Future, has a focus on increasing devotion to the Holy Eucharist and responding to Jesus as missionary disciples.  The Sisters are delighted to be a part of spreading this love for Jesus in Ohio.

Thanks to St. Gabriel Catholic Radio, the Sisters’ witness has reached many faithful beyond the St. Michael community with catechesis, such as the Virtue Minutes or in Conversations on Discipleship.

In 1997, John Cardinal O’Connor of New York canonically established the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist as a community of religious women.

Our apostolate follows upon preaching and teaching the Truth in order to gain souls for the Kingdom of Christ.
