Spiritus Sanctus Academy – Ann Arbor had a fabulous year forming “Joyful Disciples”, continuing the theme of discipleship from last year. We worked to strengthen the bonds of charity and collegiality within our school family across the grade levels by instituting house families comprising students from K through 8. After an exciting “House Family Reveal” enrichment wherein everyone learned which of the 9 house families would become “home” we gathered in our families to choose names, patron saints and virtues. Throughout the year we had opportunities to spend time together in our house families for special meals such as picnics and Thanksgiving Feast, attending Mass, games, enrichment & STEM activities, works of mercy and competition for Catholic Schools Week, our Skate-A-Thon and Field Day. Sister Maria Gemma gifted everyone with T shirts in our house family colors emblazoned with our house family names. At the conclusion of the year our graduating 8th graders were gifted with a medal of his/her house family’s patron saint. Because we are called to live within the love and communion of persons of the Most Holy Trinity, our house families are intended to provide a family group within our school wherein each student is able to thrive and revel in the knowledge that he/she is a beloved child of God and member of a small house family within our larger school family.
