There are a number of ways to make a planned – or “legacy” – gift to our community, including donating through your Will, Estate Plan or Life Insurance Policy; donating Real Estate of Closely-Held Stock or through a Charitable Gift Annuity (CGA) or other types of Annuity Contract. Please consult your financial advisor when considering any form of planned gift.
Do you desire to help the Sisters more, but can’t right now?
Perhaps your disposal income is limited, and the uncertainties of life make it challenging for you to give as much as your heart may desire. Have you considered remembering the Sisters in your estate plans? A will or living trust bequest is the most common way to do so. In addition, you might consider a donation of stock or real estate, or proceeds from a life insurance policy or retirement account. When you remember the Sisters through a legacy or planned gift, your donation provides for the future needs of the community.
Want to avoid paying taxes? Are you facing a required IRA distribution?
Retirees age 70½ and older can donate up to $100,000 tax-free from required IRA distributions annually when transferred directly from their IRA account to a specified charity. If donated, such distributions may be excluded as ordinary income from federal income tax. This may be especially attractive for retirees not needing IRA-distributed income for current living expenses. Be sure to consult with your tax adviser before making such financial decisions.
Are you aware that by giving a gift you can also receive an income for life?
A Charitable Gift Annuity is a wonderful way to help the Sisters while receiving a tax deduction and a lifetime stream of income. We would be happy to provide you with a free proposal detailing your projected income and potential tax deduction.
