In Sacramento, five Sisters teach at two different Catholic schools. Three teach at Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which is a K-8 school, where they have been teaching for 10 years now! The other Sisters began their first year of teaching at St. Francis Catholic High School, and they love it! St. Francis is one of the largest all-girl Catholic high schools. Sr. John Mary taught Ethics and Sr. Mariana taught Math. Both Sisters enjoyed the all-girl atmosphere, the great spirit of St. Francis, and the opportunity to bring their witness of Consecrated Life to such a large group of young women.
As for the Sisters who teach at Presentation, Sr. Maria Karol’s highlight was preparing her second grade students for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. Sr. Veronica Marie, who teaches fourth-eighth grade Religion, especially treasured the experience of preparing her eighth graders for Confirmation. And Sr. Marie Jeannette, who works in special education with kindergarten-eighth grade, loved helping her students conquer their challenges.
This year’s end was most unique due to COVID-19. All five Sisters successfully taught and ended the school year through distance learning. The Sisters are so grateful to have come to know and love so many wonderful people here in Sacramento; we keep them and all of our benefactors in our daily prayers.
